Youth Advocacy Board
Policies and Procedures 

Mission Statement: 

To provide a youth-led advocacy to engage the community providing guidance and partnerships aimed to end youth homelessness in Northern New Mexico, giving support to youth at risk or experiencing homelessness.

Vision:

Every Youth in the (current 14 Northern) New Mexico counties will have access to and be provided safe and stable housing, (with the expansion to cover the whole state over time).

Youth Advocacy Board Policies:

  1. Respect: Respect towards other members is expected. This is a safe space, respect each other and be kind to one another.

  2. Attendance and Communication: Try to make every meeting but know that it is okay to miss one every once in a while. Attendance from all members is expected, if you are not able to attend, we ask that you notify one of our NMCEH staff members. We all have busy lives, and we understand, so please let us know if you can't make it.

  3. Completion of Tasks/Duties given: The completion of duties/roles assigned and agreed are to be expected.

  4. Teamwork: Working together is expected from all members.

  5. Participation: Participation is not forced but we encourage participation from all members.

  6. Privacy: Confidentiality will be adhered to by all members, disregard of privacy will mean termination of membership.

  7. Sobriety: Sobriety is expected from ALL members of YAB during meetings to maintain the professional environment

  8. All members will be fairly compensated for their time.

  9. Meeting Procedures: 

  • Meetings are open to the public, only members may vote.

  • Everything goes through a vote before moving forward.

  • Board roles will have training provided. You do not have to be a part of the board if you don't want to.

  • Don't be afraid to speak up! We want to hear what you have to say (even if it's just in the chat).

  • Policies may be amended at any time with YAB majority vote and proper reasoning.
